हथकरघा क्षेत्र ने भारत के स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई।
7 अगस्त 1905 को शुरू किया गया स्वदेशी आंदोलन स्वदेशी उद्योगों, विशेष रूप से हथकरघा को, औपनिवेशिक शासन के विरुद्ध आर्थिक प्रतिरोध के रूप में बढ़ावा देता था।
भारत और रूस ने अपने रणनीतिक साझेदारी को पुनः पुष्टि की है, जिसमें औद्योगिक सहयोग पर विशेष ध्यान दिया गया है — विशेष रूप से दुर्लभ पृथ्वी खनिजों और महत्वपूर्ण संसाधनों के निष्कर्षण में — ऐसे समय में जब अमेरिका ने भारत के रूस के साथ तेल व्यापार पर दबाव बढ़ा दिया है।
दुर्लभ पृथ्वी खनिजों में भारत-रूस सहयोग
आवश्यकता: दुर्लभ पृथ्वी तत्व (REEs) आधुनिक तकनीकों — जैसे इलेक्ट्रिक वाहन, पवन टरबाइन, सेमीकंडक्टर और रक्षा प्रणालियों — के लिए अत्यंत आवश्यक हैं।
चीन, जो वैश्विक आपूर्ति का 85–95% नियंत्रित करता है, द्वारा हाल ही में लगाए गए निर्यात प्रतिबंधों ने भारत के ऑटोमोबाइल उत्पादन को प्रभावित किया और इसकी आपूर्ति श्रृंखला की कमजोरियों को उजागर किया।
प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने 7 अगस्त को एम.एस. स्वामीनाथन जन्म शताब्दी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन का उद्घाटन किया, जो एम.एस. स्वामीनाथन की जन्म शताब्दी के उपलक्ष्य में आयोजित किया गया।

एम.एस. स्वामीनाथन ने भारतीय मृदा के अनुकूल उर्वरकों, विभिन्न उच्च उपज वाली गेहूं की किस्मों और कुशल कृषि तकनीकों पर शोध किया।
जैसे-जैसे भू-राजनीतिक तनाव बढ़ रहा है और तकनीकी युद्ध तीव्रता से विकसित हो रहा है, भारत की सशस्त्र सेनाओं का आधुनिकीकरण अब अस्तित्व का प्रश्न बन गया है।
