मरुस्थलीकरण और सूखे से निपटने का विश्व दिवस
इस दिवस की स्थापना 1994 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा द्वारा की गई थी, और इसे प्रतिवर्ष 17 जून को मनाया जाता है।
इसका उद्देश्य सतत भूमि प्रबंधन की तात्कालिक आवश्यकता और मरुस्थलीकरण के विरुद्ध वैश्विक कार्रवाई को उजागर करना है।
भारत सरकार शिखर विद्युत मांग को कम करने के लिए एयर कंडीशनर (AC) तापमान सेटिंग को 20 से 28 डिग्री सेल्सियस के बीच सीमित करने के लिए नए मानकों को अपनाने की योजना बना रही है।
भारत में बढ़ती शीतलन मांग
शीतलन मांग आँकड़े: शीतलन भारत की लगभग 50 गीगावॉट या करीब 20% शिखर विद्युत मांग के लिए जिम्मेदार है।
AC उपयोग में वृद्धि: भारत में वर्तमान में 10 करोड़ AC हैं, और प्रत्येक वर्ष 1.5 करोड़ नई इकाइयाँ जुड़ती हैं।
केंद्रीय पर्यावरण मंत्री भूपेंद्र यादव ने 2021–2030 की अवधि के लिए संशोधित ग्रीन इंडिया मिशन (GIM) दस्तावेज़ जारी किया।
राष्ट्रीय ग्रीन इंडिया मिशन (Green India Mission – GIM)
ग्रीन इंडिया मिशन (GIM) की शुरुआत 2014 में भारत की राष्ट्रीय जलवायु परिवर्तन कार्य योजना (NAPCC) के अंतर्गत आठ प्रमुख मिशनों में से एक के रूप में की गई थी।
इस मिशन का उद्देश्य भारत में वन और वृक्षों की आच्छादन को संरक्षित करना, पुनःस्थापित करना और बढ़ाना है, साथ ही अनुकूलन (Adaptation) और शमन (Mitigation) रणनीतियों के माध्यम से जलवायु परिवर्तन की चुनौतियों का समाधान करना भी है।
प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने कनाडा के कानानास्किस में आयोजित G-7 आउटरीच शिखर सम्मेलन में G7 नेताओं के साथ प्रमुख वैश्विक चुनौतियों पर सार्थक विचार-विमर्श किया।

इस वर्ष का G-7 आउटरीच शिखर सम्मेलन, जिसकी मेज़बानी कनाडा कर रहा है, तीन मुख्य स्तंभों पर आधारित है: “विश्व भर में हमारे समुदायों की सुरक्षा”, “ऊर्जा सुरक्षा का निर्माण एवं डिजिटल परिवर्तन में तेजी लाना” और “भविष्य की साझेदारियों को सुनिश्चित करना”।
