- It means every household in the state had a piped water connection.Â

- The Union Territories of Dadra Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu had achieved the feat as well.
- The people from all the villages have declared their village as Har Ghar Jal through a resolution passed by Gram Sabha, certifying that all households in the villages have access to safe drinking water through taps.
Jal Jeevan Mission
- Launched: August 15, 2019.
- Aim: To provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India.Â
- Ministry: It comes under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.
- Funding Pattern: The fund sharing pattern between the Centre and states is:Â
- 90:10 for Himalayan and North-Eastern States
- 50:50 for other states
- 100% for Union Territories.
- Focus Areas:
- recharge and reuse through grey water management
- water conservation
- rain water harvesting
- Four pillars:Â
- people’s participation,Â
- stakeholder participation,Â
- political will andÂ
- optimum utilization of resources.Â
- Significance:
- Local people and Gram Sabhas and other institutions of local governance have been given an unprecedented role in the campaign.Â
- Local women are trained for water testing and are members of ‘Paani Samitis’.
- It is a scheme run by the community, for the community.
