Historical Background of RPSF:
During the Chinese aggression of 1962, it was considered necessary to maintain the communication lifeline of the Railways for the transportation of men and materials to the front and to relieve the Army. Thereafter, many more battalions were raised, and as of now, there are a total of 15 battalions in RPSF, including one Commando Battalion and one Mahila Battalion.
