    Cabinet Approves Semicon 2.0

    Context

  • The Union Cabinet has approved the Semicon 2.0  programme with an outlay of Rs.1,27,500 crore for the development of India’s semiconductor design and manufacturing ecosystem.

    • India Semiconductor Mission 1.0

  • India Semiconductor Mission 1.0 is a flagship programme launched in 2021 under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to develop a comprehensive semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem in India.
  • The Mission is supported by an incentive framework of ₹76,000 crore, offering fiscal support of up to 50 percent for silicon fabs, compound semiconductor facilities, assembly and testing units, and chip design.

    Digitisation in Criminal Justice System in India

  • The Union Government has announced that India aims to achieve a full digital rollout of the criminal justice system by 1 July 2027 through the Interoperable Criminal Justice System (ICJS).

  • The Inter-Operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS) has been established by integrating the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS), Courts (e-Courts), Jails (e-Prisons), Forensic Lab (e-Forensic) and Prosecution (e-Prosecution).
  • National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) is the Nodal Agency responsible for implementation of the project in association with National Informatics Centre (NIC), as the Technology Partner.
