At the Bharat Climate Forum 2026, energy experts highlighted a critical risk in India’s energy transition that renewable power generation is increasing rapidly, but grid and institutional constraints are preventing its efficient utilisation.
India’s Renewable Energy Sector
India’s total renewable energy capacity reached 253.96 GW in November 2025, representing an increase of over 23% from 205.52 GW in 2024.
Solar installed capacity reached 132.85 GW followed by Wind at around 53.99 GW.
The Union Ministry of Coal has stated that India currently has an overall coal stock of about 210 million tonnes (MT), which is estimated to be sufficient for around 88 days of consumption.
About
India, with the fifth-largest coal reserves and being the second-largest consumer, heavily depends on coal.
Coal contributes 55% to the energy mix and powers over 74% of electricity generation in India.
Adequate coal stocks help ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during peak demand while also acting as a buffer against global energy market volatility and uncertainties in alternative fuel supplies such as natural gas.
Recently, the Supreme Court of India ruled that creamy layer status for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) cannot be determined solely based on parental income, especially salary income.
Background of the Case
Civil Services Examination Dispute: The issue arose from disputes regarding candidates claiming OBC Non-Creamy Layer status in the Civil Services Examination.
Several candidates argued that they were wrongly categorized as belonging to the creamy layer because their parents worked in Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Banks, and Private sector organizations.
The ongoing conflict in the Middle East i.e. West Asia highlights the intersection of geopolitics, energy security, global trade, and domestic economics.

‘लाभकारी स्वामी’ (Beneficial Owner – BO) का निर्धारण: संशोधन में लाभकारी स्वामित्व की परिभाषा और मानदंड दिए गए हैं, जो निवेश समुदाय द्वारा व्यापक रूप से प्रयुक्त होते हैं, और धन शोधन निवारण नियम, 2005 के अंतर्गत मान्य हैं। यह परीक्षण निवेशक इकाई स्तर पर लागू होगा।
निवेश हेतु सरल मानदंड: भूमि-साझा सीमा वाले देशों (LBCs) से आने वाले गैर-नियंत्रक निवेशक, जिनकी किसी कंपनी में हिस्सेदारी 10% से कम है, अब स्वचालित मार्ग (Automatic Route) से निवेश कर सकते हैं।
पश्चिम एशिया में बढ़ते तनाव के बीच मुंबई, बेंगलुरु और कोलकाता सहित भारत के कई शहरों में तरलीकृत पेट्रोलियम गैस (एलपीजी) सिलेंडरों की आपूर्ति में व्यवधान की खबरें सामने आ रही हैं।
एलपीजी के बारे में
तरलीकृत पेट्रोलियम गैस (एलपीजी) एक अत्यधिक ज्वलनशील, ऊर्जा-समृद्ध तथा स्वच्छ रूप से जलने वाला ईंधन है, जो मुख्यतः प्रोपेन और ब्यूटेन से मिलकर बनता है।
यह कच्चे तेल के परिशोधन (refining) या प्राकृतिक गैस के प्रसंस्करण (processing) के दौरान प्राप्त होती है और इसे घरेलू खाना पकाने, हीटिंग तथा वाहनों में उपयोग के लिए स्टील सिलेंडरों में दाब के तहत तरल रूप में संग्रहित किया जाता है।
भारत क्लाइमेट फ़ोरम 2026 में ऊर्जा विशेषज्ञों ने एक गंभीर जोखिम पर प्रकाश डाला कि भारत में नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा उत्पादन तीव्र गति से बढ़ रहा है, लेकिन ग्रिड और संस्थागत बाधाएँ इसके कुशल उपयोग को रोक रही हैं।
भारत का नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा क्षेत्र
नवंबर 2025 तक भारत की कुल नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा क्षमता 253.96 गीगावाट (GW) तक पहुँच गई, जो 2024 की 205.52 GW क्षमता से 23% से अधिक वृद्धि दर्शाती है।
सौर ऊर्जा की स्थापित क्षमता 132.85 GW तक पहुँच गई, इसके बाद पवन ऊर्जा लगभग 53.99 GW रही।
