      • It refers to an <\/span><\/span><\/span>economic situation<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> marked by<\/span><\/span><\/span> stagnant economic<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> output and high price inflation.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • The idea became popular during the <\/span><\/span><\/span>1970s when the U.S. economy witnessed high price inflation<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> due to the oil shock as well as an economic recession marked by negative economic growth.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • It is characterised by slow economic growth and relatively high unemployment\u2014or economic stagnation\u2014which is at the same time accompanied by rising prices (i.e. inflation).\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
