{"id":84946,"date":"2026-09-16T18:13:27","date_gmt":"2026-09-16T12:43:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=84946"},"modified":"2026-09-16T18:14:00","modified_gmt":"2026-09-16T12:44:00","slug":"pm-vishwakarma-scheme-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/16-09-2026\/pm-vishwakarma-scheme-3","title":{"rendered":"PM Vishwakarma Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS2\/ Governance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>PM Vishwakarma scheme<\/strong> has achieved its target of registering 30 lakh beneficiaries as it approaches three years of implementation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the scheme<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Launched in 2023, PM Vishwakarma is a <strong>Central Sector Scheme<\/strong> launched by the <strong>Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME)<\/strong>, with an outlay of <strong>\u20b913,000 crore<\/strong> for <strong>2023-24 to 2027-28<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It covers <strong>18 traditional trades<\/strong>, including Carpenter (Suthar), Boat Maker, Armourer, Blacksmith (Lohar), Hammer and Tool Kit Maker, Locksmith, Goldsmith (Sunar), Potter (Kumhaar), Sculptor (Moortikar)\/ stone carver \/ Stone breaker, Cobbler (Charmkar)\/ Shoesmith\/ Footwear artisan, Mason (Raajmistri), Basket Maker\/ Basket Waver: Mat maker\/ Coir Weaver\/ Broom maker, Doll &amp; Toy Maker (Traditional), Barber (Naai), Garland Maker (Malakaar), Washerman (Dhobi), Tailor (Darzi) and Fishing Net Maker.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The scheme is built around the <strong>three pillars of Samman, Samarthya and Samriddhi<\/strong>, and seeks to strengthen the <strong>Guru-Shishya parampara<\/strong> and family-based practice of traditional skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eligibility\/Exclusion\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is open to <strong>artisans and craftspeople aged 18 years or above<\/strong> who work with their hands and tools in a covered trade and are <strong>self-employed in the unorganised sector<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Government employees and their family members are not eligible.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Those who have availed specified similar <strong>credit-based self-employment\/business loans during the preceding five years<\/strong> are generally excluded.
