carrying declarations such as \u201c<strong>High Fat\u201d, \u201cHigh Sugar\u201d, \u201cHigh Salt\u201d and \u201cHighly Sweetened Beverage\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The thresholds are based on the Dietary Guidelines for Indians, <strong>2024<\/strong>, developed by <strong>ICMR-NIN.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Two-Phase Approach:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Phase I<\/strong> would cover products high in two or more of the specified nutrients \u2014 added saturated fat, added sugar and salt \u2014 along with specified sweetened beverages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Phase II <\/strong>would extend warnings to products that are high in any one of these nutrients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 warning<\/strong> labels such as <strong>\u201cHigh in Sugar\u201d, \u201cHigh in Sodium\u201d and \u201cHigh in Saturated Fat\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brazil <\/strong>introduced a magnifying-glass symbol on the front of packages to identify foods high in added sugar, saturated fat and sodium.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Way Ahead<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India should<strong> adopt a single-nutrient warning framework<\/strong> where exceeding the scientifically determined threshold for sugar, salt or saturated fat triggers a warning.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The system should <strong>use highly visible, standardised and language-neutral visual elements<\/strong>, supplemented by simple words where necessary.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Implementation should be <strong>time-bound, with clearly specified transition periods <\/strong>rather than an open-ended phased approach.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FOPL should be accompanied by <strong>regulation of health claims,<\/strong> <strong>advertising to children, school food environments <\/strong>and digital marketing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion remarks<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Front-of-pack warning labels should be viewed not
