aspect-ratio:1.4039874443792901;width:530px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-12.png 636w, https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/09\/image-12-300x214.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cooperation with India&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s influence was strengthened by <strong>cultural links<\/strong> between India and the Baltics, including Lithuania-born Hermann Kallenbach, Vyd\u016bnas, Antanas Po\u0161ka and translations of Gandhi\u2019s works.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Leaders such as Gra\u017eina Miniotait\u0117 promoted non-violent civilian defence<\/strong>, while the 1982 film Gandhi was broadcast on Lithuanian television to educate people about peaceful resistance.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India-Baltic relations expanded into trade, technology, sustainability, the blue economy and culture.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Government of India\u2019s Ministry of Commerce and Industry estimates show that India\u2019s total bilateral trade with Lithuania reached $490.61 million; with Latvia, $475.66 million, and with Estonia, $219.69 million in 2025-26.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Baltic Way<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Baltic Way was a historic <strong>non-violent protest<\/strong> organised on August 23, 1989, during the <strong>Singing Revolution (1986\u201391) in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It became a landmark of the Singing Revolution (1986\u201391) and the Baltic states\u2019 peaceful struggle for independence from Soviet rule.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Around two million people formed a <strong>675-km human chain linking Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius to demand freedom from Soviet rule.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It was organised on the <strong>50th anniversary of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact<\/strong>, it exposed the secret protocol that had enabled the Soviet annexation of the Baltic states.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It was inspired partly by Mahatma Gandhi\u2019s principles of ahimsa, satyagraha, non-cooperation and civil resistance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Source:&nbsp;
