its<strong> electricity mix with 297 GW of non-fossil capacity deployed<\/strong>, a lot more solar and wind capacity under development and ambitious ambitions ahead.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>However, renewable energy integration is not only about adding solar panels and wind turbines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Grid integration<\/strong> is the and integration<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Current Status and Significance of the Grid<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India\u2019s non-fossil sources now account for a significant share of electricity generation, and their contribution has occasionally crossed <strong>50% during daytime hours<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It demonstrates the growing maturity of renewable energy deployment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A robust and modern grid is significant because it can:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure stable energy supply under changeable renewable generation;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Transfer power from areas with high renewables to areas with high demand;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reduce clean energy demand, network health, rooftop solar and electric car charging. It weakens real-time grid management.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Related Efforts &amp; Initiatives<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India has implemented a number of measures to boost its power infrastructure:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Expansion of inter-state transmission networks<\/strong> to connect renewable-rich regions with demand hubs;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Green Energy Corridor Projects<\/strong> for evacuation of renewable energies;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Promoting deployment of <strong>Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)<\/strong> and <strong>pumped storage;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Smart meter deployment <\/strong>in programs to modernise the electricity sector.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of <strong>electricity exchanges<\/strong> and <strong>ancillary services marketplaces;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Competitive auctions<\/strong> for renewable energy and new tools <strong>to help enhance price discovery.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These projects suggest a steady shift toward a more flexible, market-oriented power system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Way Forward: Strengthening the Green Grid<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Deploy Advanced Grid Technologies: <\/strong>India ought to focus on reconductoring of existing transmission lines, dynamic grid management, grid forming inverters and co-location of battery storage with renewable projects.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These types of measures can add capacity without having to build more infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Build Storage and Flexible Capacity:<\/strong> There is a need to expand battery storage, pumped hydro and flexible thermal generation.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>State-owned thermal facilities can provide reserves and balancing services throughout the transition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reform Power Markets:<\/strong> Markets need to reward not only energy, but <strong>capacity, flexibility and dispatchability.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Short-term capacity markets and novel contracts can draw investment to resources that help integrate renewables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Adopt Technology-Neutral Procurement: <\/strong>Rather than buying solar, wind, thermal and storage separately, utilities should determine the services required \u2013 capacity, flexibility and reliability \u2013 and let diverse technologies compete on a least-cost basis.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Accelerate Digitalisation &amp; Consumer Participation:<\/strong> Smart meters, real-time data systems and time-varying pricing can allow users to shift electricity consumption away from moments of stress on the grid.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Digital platforms aimed at consumers can increase transparency regarding electricity prices and consumption.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India has demonstrated remarkable success in expanding clean energy capacity.
