aspect-ratio:1.5956783710783295;width:568px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-41.png 884w, https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-41-300x188.png 300w, https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/08\/image-41-768x481.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 884px) 100vw, 884px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Supreme Court Directions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Earlier, the Supreme Court tasked the<strong> Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)<\/strong> with cracking down on \u2018digital arrest\u2019 scammers by giving the<strong> agency a \u201cfree hand\u201d to launch an anti-corruption probe<\/strong> into bankers involved in the opening of mule accounts linked to cybercrimes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Primary Role for CBI:<\/strong> CBI authorized as the lead agency for digital arrest scams and all states directed to give general consent under the DSPE Act, 1946.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Supreme Court to directly order the CBI, overriding State consent, to conduct a pan-India investigation and hunt down scammers.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The court directed the CBI to identify police officers from different States, and domain experts, to aid the investigation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Global Action: <\/strong>CBI tasked with coordinating with INTERPOL to dismantle overseas cyber syndicates.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>AI-Driven Financial Tracking<\/strong>: RBI was directed to respond to the use of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to trace \u2018layering\u2019 or the moving of the proceeds of crime through multiple bank accounts to escape detection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Platform &amp;
