{"id":80700,"date":"2026-08-04T18:15:58","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T12:45:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=80700"},"modified":"2026-08-04T18:16:38","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T12:46:38","slug":"msme-amendment-bill-2026","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/04-08-2026\/msme-amendment-bill-2026","title":{"rendered":"Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/Economy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rajya Sabha has passed the <strong>Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> To improve administrative structures and payment mechanisms while balancing interests of all parties.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Major Highlights of the Bill<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Settlement through TReDS mandatory for CPSEs:<\/strong> Every central public sector enterprise (CPSE) must settle all invoices for procurement of goods or services from MSMEs on the Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS).\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>TReDS is an RBI-regulated electronic platform that enables MSMEs to raise funds from financiers against invoices due from buyers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Timelines for Mediation: <\/strong>The Bill states that mediation must be completed within 90 days from the date fixed for first appearance.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Timelines for Arbitration: <\/strong>Reference for arbitration must be made within 30 days from the date of termination of mediation.
