Puram (Port Blair) has approached the Andaman and Nicobar Coastal Zone Management Authority and the Environment Ministry seeking approval for protection and development work at Indira Point.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is Indira Point?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Indira Point is <strong>India&#8217;s southernmost point<\/strong>, located on <strong>Great Nicobar Island<\/strong> in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It lies <strong>south of Galathea Bay,<\/strong> where the proposed Great Nicobar mega infrastructure project is being developed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"b2d1da\" 2004 tsunami <\/strong>caused the southern shoreline of Great Nicobar Island to subside by roughly 4.25 metres, pushing the sea closer to the lighthouse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why Does the Proposal Require Environmental Clearance?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The project site falls within ecologically sensitive<strong> Island Coastal Regulation Zone (ICRZ) categories.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>ICRZ-1A rules <\/strong>bar most development activity, with limited exceptions for eco-tourism, roads (including those built on stilts) and \u2014 in exceptional circumstances \u2014 defence, strategic, or public utility projects, provided a detailed impact assessment is carried out.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ICRZ-IV, <\/strong>on the other hand, permits and regulates certain activities such as land reclamation, bunding and erosion This is called <strong>targeted protein degradation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Significance<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conventional drugs work by binding to a protein in a way that prevents it from performing certain roles in the body. Hence the drugs need to be present for long periods in the body.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>PROTACs however act like catalysts,<\/strong> while the proteins they target end up being degraded, they themselves are not degraded.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After triggering one degradation process, the PROTAC can <strong>detach itself and repeat it with another<\/strong> instance of the same protein.
