to oppose a proposed $1.6 billion luxury resort project.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The project includes constructions on <strong>Sazan island and Vjosa-Narta,<\/strong> a<strong> wetland home for flamingos, seals and nesting sites for sea turtles,<\/strong> creating concern over the government\u2019s negligence towards environmental degradation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In 2024, the Albanian government brought in a new law that <strong>stripped away Albania\u2019s ecosystem protection,<\/strong> allowing construction on land considered \u201cprotected\u201d under EU\u2019s \u201cNatura 2000\u201d.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Protesters claim no consultation was held before approving the project.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Flamingo Revolution<\/strong> began over<strong> environmental concerns<\/strong> but now have turned <strong>into anti-corruption rallies <\/strong>asking for the resignation of Albania\u2019s Prime Minister Edi Rama.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The protests are gaining international attention, recently the <strong>European Parliament pressed Albania to stop the construction in protected areas.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About Albania<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Albania is a country in<strong> southern Europe, located in the western part of the Balkan Peninsula<\/strong> on th<strong>e Strait of Otranto, <\/strong>the southern entrance to the<strong> Adriatic Sea.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The capital city is <strong>Tirana (Tiran\u00eb).<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Albania is bounded by<strong> Montenegro<\/strong> to the northwest, <strong>Kosovo<\/strong> to the northeast, <strong>North Macedonia<\/strong> to the east, <strong>Greece <\/strong>to the south, and the <strong>Adriatic and Ionian seas<\/strong> to the west and southwest, respectively.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"d2deda\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"661\" height=\"610\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/06\/image-237.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-78065\" style=\"--dominant-color: #d2deda;
