style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:circle\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">Recently,\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong>Madhya Pradesh <\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">became the <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong>first state in the country<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"> to identify a deceased person through NAFIS.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">Web-based application:<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:circle\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">The web-based application functions as a <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong>central information repository<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"> by consolidating fingerprint data from <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong>all states and Union Territories<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">Unique ID:<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:circle\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">NAFIS assigns a unique <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong>10-digit National Fingerprint Number (NFN)<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"> to each person arrested for a crime.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:circle\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">This unique ID will be<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong> used for the person\u2019s lifetime<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">, and different crimes registered under different FIRs will be linked to the same NFN.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">2020 report by the NCRB:<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:circle\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">According to a 2020 report by the NCRB, it<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong> enables law enforcement agencies <\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">to <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong>upload, trace, and retrieve data<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"list-style-type:square\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">The latest iteration, <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong>FACTS 5.0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">, which was upgraded in 2007, was considered to have <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\"><strong>\u201coutlived its shelf life\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff\">, according to a 2018 report by the NCRB and thus needed to be replaced by NAFIS.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:\"Book
