Partnership:<\/strong> India and the Netherlands upgraded bilateral relations to a <strong>\u201cStrategic Partnership\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Semiconductor Cooperation: <\/strong>An MoU was signed between <strong>Tata Electronics and ASML.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ASML will supply <strong>advanced lithography systems<\/strong> for Tata\u2019s semiconductor fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cultural Cooperation: <\/strong>Leiden University restituted <strong>11th-century Chola-era copper plates<\/strong> to India.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Defense Cooperation: <\/strong>Both countries signed a Letter of Intent on Defence Cooperation to pave the way for a <strong>Defense Industrial Roadmap<\/strong>, joint manufacturing, and structured tri-services military interactions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Both countries adopted a Memorandum of Cooperation between <strong>Eindhoven University of Technology and University of Twente and six Indian leading Technical Institutes (<\/strong>IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati and IIT Madras) for a brain bridge in semiconductors and related technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Brief on India- Netherlands Relations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Diplomatic relations:<\/strong> India and the Netherlands established diplomatic relations in 1947, with 2026 marking 79 years of bilateral diplomatic ties.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Economic Cooperation: <\/strong>India and the Netherlands formalized the <strong>Joint Trade &amp; Investment Committee (JTIC) in 2025<\/strong>, strengthening bilateral trade, two-way investment cooperation, and collaboration in technology, MSMEs, and emerging sectors.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Netherlands is the 4th largest investor<\/strong> in India with an FDI inflow of <strong>US$ 54.94 billion (2000- 2025).<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bilateral trade<\/strong> between India-Netherlands reached at <strong>US$ 16.75 billion<\/strong> in FY26 (till November 2025).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>India\u2019s exports <\/strong>to the Netherlands stood at US$ 22.76 billion in FY25 and around US$ 12.82 billion in FY26.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Technology Cooperation:<\/strong> India and the Netherlands cooperate in semiconductors, artificial intelligence, quantum technologies, cybersecurity, maritime security, green hydrogen, and renewable energy.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cultural Cooperation:<\/strong> India and the Netherlands signed an MoU in 2025 for cooperation in the development of the <strong>National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Diaspora: <\/strong>The Netherlands is home to the largest number of Indian origin people in mainland Europe, including around <strong>200,000 members<\/strong> of the <strong>Surinami-Hindustani community.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Concerns in relations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten<\/strong> stated that the Netherlands and several European Union countries were concerned about developments in India relating to;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Press freedom,<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rights of minorities, especially Muslims and smaller communities,<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Democratic values and rule of law.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Insiya Hemani Case:<\/strong> The prolonged delay in resolving the custody dispute has emerged as a sensitive diplomatic issue between India and the Netherlands.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The case has raised concerns in the Netherlands regarding<strong> international child custody enforcement<\/strong> and legal cooperation with India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Way Ahead<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India and the Netherlands should build upon the newly established Strategic Partnership to deepen cooperation in trade, technology, clean energy, maritime security, and innovation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Continued high-level political engagement and institutional dialogue can facilitate greater mutual understanding on bilateral and global issues.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Expanding
