This diversification strengthens India&#8217;s strategic position in the region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gateway to INSTC:<\/strong> Chabahar port will boost India&#8217;s access to Iran, the key gateway to the <strong>International North-South Transport Corridor <\/strong>(<strong>INSTC)<\/strong> that has sea, rail and road routes between India, Russia, Iran, Europe and Central Asia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Countering China:<\/strong> Chabahar port is beneficial to India in countering Chinese presence in the Arabian Sea which China is trying to ensure by helping Pakistan develop the Gwadar port.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Trade Benefit: <\/strong>With Chabahar port becoming functional, there will be a significant boost in the import of iron ore, sugar and rice to India.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The import cost of oil to India will also see a considerable decline.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>India\u2019s Investment:<\/strong> Under the 2024 agreement, India Ports Global Ltd (IPGL) has committed <strong>$120 million<\/strong> to equip the port.
