Strategic: <\/strong>Elevated to <strong>Strategic Partnership (2023).<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Regular high-level visits; Egypt invited as <strong>Chief Guest (Republic Day 2023)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooperation in <strong>multilateral forums (UN, BRICS Expansion).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Economic Relations: <\/strong>Bilateral trade <strong>$6\u20137 billion (approx.). <\/strong>Key sectors include petroleum, fertilizers, textiles; and Indian investments in <strong>pharma, IT, manufacturing.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maritime &amp; Geostrategic Importance: <\/strong>Egypt\u2019s control of <strong>Suez Canal<\/strong> which is critical for India\u2019s trade; convergence in <strong>Indian Ocean &amp; Mediterranean connectivity; <\/strong>and India\u2019s role as a <strong>net security provider in Indian Ocean Region (IOR)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Defence Cooperation: <\/strong>Institutional mechanism: <strong>Joint Defence Committee (JDC). <\/strong>Key focus areas include joint exercises and training; defence production and technology; and maritime security cooperation.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Exercise Cyclone (Army Exercise) <\/strong>is a joint special forces exercise<strong> between Indian Army (Para Special Forces) and Egyptian Special Forces<\/strong>, focused on counter-terrorism operations, desert warfare, urban warfare tactics, and special operations coordination.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Outcomes of the 11th Joint Defence Committee (JDC)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Forward-Looking Defence Roadmap (2026\u201327): <\/strong>Both countries agreed on a structured defence cooperation plan focusing on:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Expansion of <strong>military-to-military engagements<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intensification of <strong>joint training exercises<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enhancement of <strong>maritime security cooperation<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increasing <strong>scale and complexity of military exercises<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening <strong>defence production and technology collaboration<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Defence Industry Collaboration: <\/strong>India highlighted its defence manufacturing growth, as <strong>production<\/strong> of more than <strong>$20 billion, and exports<\/strong> approx $4 billion to more than 100 countries.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Agreement to develop a <strong>Defence Industry Cooperation Plan<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Focus areas include <strong>co-development and co-production, <\/strong>technology transfer, and industrial partnerships.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It reflects India&#8217;s push for <strong>Atmanirbhar Bharat in defence<\/strong> and export-led growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maritime Security Cooperation: <\/strong>First-ever <strong>Navy-to-Navy Staff Talks<\/strong> held, and India emphasized the role of the Indian Navy in ensuring <strong>freedom of navigation<\/strong>, and contribution of <strong>Information Fusion Centre\u2013Indian Ocean Region (IFC-IOR).<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maritime cooperation is<strong> central to India\u2019s strategic outreach<\/strong> in the Indian Ocean and beyond, especially in securing <strong>Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs)<\/strong> and countering emerging threats.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It aligns with India\u2019s vision of <strong>Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Air Force Cooperation: <\/strong>Meeting with Egyptian Air Force Commander, and recognition of growing <strong>air-to-air cooperation. <\/strong>There are scope for joint exercises, and training exchanges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Related Issues and Concerns<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Trade imbalance and underutilised economic potential<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Limited <strong>private sector engagement<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bureaucratic and regulatory hurdles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Competition from <strong>China and other global players<\/strong> in Egypt\/Africa<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Regional instability in <strong>West Asia\u2013North Africa (WANA)<\/strong> affecting cooperation, as Egypt is a key player in the <strong>WANA region.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Future Roadmap<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Economic &amp;
