climate vulnerabilities of South Asia, <\/strong>which is one of the most climate-sensitive regions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hosting such global events helps in <strong>mobilising climate finance, technology transfer, and international collaborations<\/strong>, which may now be relatively constrained.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is COP (Conference of Parties)?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Conference of Parties (COP) is the annual supreme decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It brings together <strong>nearly 200 countries <\/strong>to negotiate global climate action, climate finance, and emission reduction commitments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>first COP session <\/strong>was held in <strong>Berlin, Germany, in March 1995.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Meeting:<\/strong> The COP <strong>meets every year,<\/strong> unless the Parties decide otherwise.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The COP Presidency rotates<\/strong> among the five recognized UN regions: <strong>Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Central and Eastern Europe and Western Europe and Others.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The COP meets in Bonn,<\/strong> unless a class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>UNFCCC is one of the three <strong>Rio Conventions,<\/strong> which were adopted at the <strong>Earth Summit 1992<\/strong> alongside the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and the Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The convention entered into force in <strong>1994.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The primary objective<\/strong> of the UNFCCC is to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that prevents dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Secretariat: <\/strong>The UNFCCC secretariat is headquartered in <strong>Bonn, Germany.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Major Instruments: It is the parent treaty to two major legal agreements:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Kyoto Protocol (1997): <\/strong>Set the emission targets for developed countries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Paris Agreement (2015): <\/strong>A landmark universal agreement aiming to limit global warming to well below <strong>2\u00b0C<\/strong>, preferably 1.5\u00b0C, above pre-industrial levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Financial Mechanisms:<\/strong> Manages and coordinates funds such as the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the Adaptation Fund to assist developing nations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Recent COP
