Planning Incentive Scheme for States"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/Renewable Energy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To meet its target of <strong>one crore PM Surya Ghar households by 2027,<\/strong> the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is encouraging States to adopt a <strong>\u2018utility led aggregation (ULA)\u2019 model.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The MNRE is mooting an <strong>incentive scheme<\/strong> to make PM Surya more attractive to States.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The State electricity distribution companies (DISCOMS)<\/strong> will pay for installing rooftop solar systems in households that either can\u2019t afford them or don\u2019t have adequate infrastructure to install rooftop systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The MNRE has already sanctioned <strong>12.58 lakh (ULA) installations in<\/strong> Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Kerala, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Ladakh, Daman and Diu, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Telangana, Bihar and Tripura.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff2cc\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p><strong>India\u2019s Energy Share<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>As of 2025, <\/strong>the country\u2019s total installed electricity capacity has crossed <strong>500 GW, reaching 509.6 GW.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The total non-fossil power installed capacity<\/strong> has reached 262.74 GW in 2025 which is 51.5% of the total installed electricity capacity in the country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The solar energy installed capacity has reached<strong> 132.85 GW in 2025.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fossil-fuel-based sources:<\/strong> 244.80 GW, about<strong> 49 % of the total, <\/strong>making coal a source of up to almost half the energy needs.
