It limits prosecution and recognition of several forms of sexual violence.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In <strong>nearly three-fourths of countries<\/strong>, girls can still be <strong>legally married under certain conditions<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Economic Discrimination: 44% of countries lack laws mandating equal pay for work of equal value<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This legal gap perpetuates the <strong>gender wage gap and economic inequality<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Rising Threats to Women\u2019s Rights: <\/strong>UN Women warns that violations against women\u2019s rights are increasing due to <strong>weak enforcement and lack of accountability<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Rapid technological expansion has led to <strong>online harassment, cyberstalking and digital abuse<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sexual Violence in Conflict: <\/strong>Rape continues to be used as a <strong>weapon of war<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reported cases of sexual violence have <strong>increased by 87% in the past two years<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Barriers to Accessing Justice<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Social Norms and Stigma: <\/strong>Victim-blaming and societal pressure discourage reporting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Institutional Barriers: <\/strong>Lack of trust in police, courts, and legal institutions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Practical Constraints: <\/strong>High legal costs, long judicial processes, language barriers and lack of legal awareness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Impunity and Weak Enforcement: <\/strong>Crimes such as <strong>femicide and sexual violence often go unpunished<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Emerging Global Challenges<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Backlash Against Gender Equality: <\/strong>Recent years have witnessed <strong>growing resistance to gender equality policies<\/strong> in several countries.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Laws restricting women\u2019s freedoms and participation are being introduced.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Women\u2019s voices are being suppressed in political and public spaces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Digital and Online Violence: <\/strong>Rapid technological growth has led to <strong>online harassment, cyber-bullying, and digital abuse<\/strong> targeting women.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Weak regulation results in <strong>impunity for perpetrators<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Progress Achieved So Far<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>87% of countries have enacted domestic violence laws.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Over <strong>40 countries have strengthened constitutional protections for women and girls<\/strong> in the last decade.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>International frameworks such as <strong>CEDAW, SDG-5 (Gender Equality), and UNSC Resolution 1325<\/strong> have encouraged reforms.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>However, <strong>laws alone are insufficient<\/strong> without effective implementation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Global Call to Action<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>International Women\u2019s Day 2026 theme: \u2018Rights. Justice. Action.
