It brought together countries and experts to discuss AI risks and resulted in the Bletchley Declaration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2024 Seoul Summit (South Korea): <\/strong>The second summit was held in Seoul in May 2024, building on the discussions from the Bletchley Park meeting and broadening to include innovation and inclusivity alongside safety.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2025 AI Action Summit (Paris, France):<\/strong> In February 2025, the AI Action Summit took place at the Grand Palais in Paris. It was co-chaired by France and India and followed the earlier Bletchley Park and Seoul events.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2026 India AI Impact Summit (New Delhi): <\/strong>This is the next major summit in the series, held in India in February 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>India\u2013AI Impact Summit 2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Hosted by the Ministry<\/strong> of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The India\u2013AI Impact Summit 2026, was <strong>announced by the PM at the France AI Action Summit<\/strong> and it will be the first-ever global AI summit <strong>hosted in the Global South.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will strengthen <strong>existing multilateral initiatives<\/strong> while advancing new priorities, deliverables, and cooperative frameworks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Three Sutras: <\/strong>Three foundational pillars, known as &#8216;Sutras\u2019 i.e. <strong>People, Planet and Progress,<\/strong> define how AI can be harnessed through multilateral cooperation for collective benefit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"93bcca\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-121.png\" alt=\"india ai impact summit 2026\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-67351\" style=\"--dominant-color: #93bcca; width:278px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-121.png 500w, https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-121-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-121-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>India-hosted Summit Goals<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>AI\u2019s capabilities must be available<strong> to as many people as possible;\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>more work must be done to <strong>make it relevant in the Global South,<\/strong> such as by expanding representation for languages that have been under-represented in the training of western LLMs (large language models);\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and that the technology should be <strong>\u201csafe and trusted\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>On the domestic front,<\/strong> the government sought to <strong>project India as an attractive destination for AI infrastructure and research,<\/strong> and for encouraging the technology\u2019s adoption in India.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Outcomes of the summit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Wide Participation: <\/strong>The summit attracted over five lakh visitors, a record that easily surpassed the attendance of the G20 summit in 2023.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The event also hosted over 500 individual discussions, with speakers from around the world.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Investments: <\/strong>The government also mentioned <strong>$250 billion in investment commitments<\/strong>, as well as <strong>$20 billion in commitments for frontier deep tech research.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Delhi Declaration: <\/strong>India also achieved <strong>broad consensus among 88 countries and international organisations<\/strong> for the New Delhi Declaration on AI.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It was signed by the <strong>U.S., China, France, and several other countries<\/strong> who are key for the development and deployment of AI at present.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nearly all commitments are described in the statement as <strong>\u201cvoluntary\u201d and \u201cnon-binding,\u201d<\/strong> encouraging wider participation.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These include a charter for the <strong>\u201cdemocratic diffusion\u201d of AI<\/strong>; a <strong>\u201cGlobal AI Impact Commons,\u201d <\/strong>which would serve as a database of use cases for countries to draw inspiration from; a <strong>\u201cTrusted AI Commons,\u201d<\/strong> described as a \u201crepository of tools, benchmarks, and best practices; an <strong>\u201cInternational Network of AI for Science Institutions\u201d <\/strong>which would link technical institutes around the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>India Joined Pax Silica: <\/strong>During the summit, India joined the U.S.-led Pax Silica initiative, which seeks to build a network of like-minded countries opposed to concentration of power in electronics manufacturing and critical minerals.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sarvam AI:<\/strong> The event saw the long-anticipated launch of India\u2019s first domestically trained <strong>multi-billion parameter LLMs by Sarvam AI.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Investment commitments:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reliance Industries Ltd. announced commitments of \u20b910 lakh crore in domestic AI, only slightly more than the Adani Group\u2019s similar commitment.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Google gave a few fresh details about its existing $15 billion investment in data centre and AI projects in India, such as a subsea cable system that would directly connect India and the U.S.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The summit is expected to catalyse long-term international partnerships and position AI as a key driver of economic growth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The government mentioned there was \u201cbroad-based global consensus on leveraging AI for economic growth and social good\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/sci-tech\/technology\/what-are-the-key-takeaways-from-ai-summit-explained\/article70661026.ece#:~:text=For%20India&#039;s%20turn%2C%20the%20government,the%20training%20of%20western%20LLMs%20(\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>TH<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><strong> Context <\/strong><\/p>\n<li class=\"ms-5\"> The India AI Impact Summit 2026 concluded in New Delhi recently. <\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><strong> Background of AI Summits <\/strong><\/p>\n<li class=\"ms-5\"> 2023 Bletchley Park Summit (UK): The first global AI summit was held at Bletchley Park and focused on safety.
