aspect-ratio:2.060619518152548;width:511px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-108.png 750w, https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-108-300x146.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Google pledged $30 million<\/strong> to<strong> improve public services <\/strong>with AI and <strong>another $30 <\/strong>million for scientific research.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Google DeepMind <\/strong>is also launching a new partnership with the Indian government to deploy its frontier<strong> AI for Science models locally.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Google also unveiled <strong>major skilling programs in India including:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the Google AI Professional Certificate for students and early-career professionals,\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>partnerships with Karma Yogi Bharat to train 20 million public servants,\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and generative AI support for over 10,000 Atal Tinkering Labs reaching 11 million students.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Significance<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The new infrastructure is expected to <strong>support rising demand for cloud computing and AI services in India,<\/strong> while also strengthening connections with <strong>Africa, Australia and parts of Southeast Asia.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>More subsea capacity typically means<strong> cheaper, faster internet <\/strong>which feeds into productivity and economic growth at scale.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What Are Undersea Cables?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Undersea cables <strong>connect global internet networks, <\/strong>providing vast data transfer capacity via fiber optic strands.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These cables land at <strong>designated points and are linked to terrestrial networks.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They <strong>connect internet service providers and telecom operators<\/strong> everywhere with those in other countries.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These cables are a<strong> few inches thick and are heavily padded <\/strong>to withstand the hostile environment of the sea floor.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Importance of Undersea Cables:<\/strong> About 90% of global data, 80% of world trade, and key financial and government transactions rely on undersea cables.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"e9eade\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"868\" height=\"510\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2026\/02\/image-106.png\" alt=\"undersea cables\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-67148\" style=\"--dominant-color: #e9eade;
