Immediately after rescue;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A person may be <strong>kept in temporary safe<\/strong> custody for a<strong> maximum of 10 days <\/strong>if <strong>production before a magistrate<\/strong> is not immediately possible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After production before the magistrate, an inquiry is mandatory, during which interim custody can continue up to<strong> three weeks.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Long-term placement (1\u20133 years): <\/strong>Permissible only if the magistrate records a finding that the person is \u201cin need of care and protection.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protective Home vs Corrective Institution:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Protective Home (Section 2(g)): <\/strong>It is<strong> <\/strong>intended for care, rehabilitation, and support of victims of trafficking.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Corrective Institution (Section 2(b) read with Section 10A): <\/strong>It is meant exclusively for offenders convicted under PITA.
