Its <strong>primary mandate<\/strong> was to develop a <strong>sustainable, professional, and future-ready governance system<\/strong> capable of positioning India among the <strong>world\u2019s top-10 sporting nations<\/strong> and as a <strong>credible contender for hosting the 2036 Olympic Games<\/strong>.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Findings: A System Under Strain<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Systemic Deficiencies in Key Sports Institutions: India\u2019s major sports institutions<\/strong>, including the <strong>Sports Authority of India (SAI)<\/strong> and <strong>state sports departments<\/strong>, suffer from <em>chronic understaffing, poor inter-agency coordination, and excessive reliance<\/em> on <strong>generalist civil servants<\/strong> or <strong>short-term contractual employees<\/strong> lacking domain expertise.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These shortcomings <strong>impede the effective implementation of national sports policies<\/strong>, weaken coordination with federations, and undermine India\u2019s capacity to build a <strong>modern, athlete-centric ecosystem<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Absence of Professional Sports Administration Framework: <\/strong>India is <strong>lacking a national institute or structured framework<\/strong> for sports administration and governance.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It leaves sports administrators without <strong>defined career pathways, competency standards, or continuous professional development opportunities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India\u2019s sports governance <strong>model remains ad hoc<\/strong>, with <strong>weak institutional memory and minimal long-term professionalisation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Findings on Institutional Shortcomings: <\/strong>The report points to <strong>systemic deficits across the entire sports ecosystem<\/strong>, including the <em>Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports;
