{"id":62519,"date":"2025-12-24T17:53:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-24T12:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=62519"},"modified":"2025-12-24T17:54:50","modified_gmt":"2025-12-24T12:24:50","slug":"industrial-parks-smarter-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/24-12-2025\/industrial-parks-smarter-infrastructure","title":{"rendered":"Industrial Parks Emerging as Key Drivers of Smarter Infrastructure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/ Economy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In News\/Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Industrial parks have emerged as a core instrument of India\u2019s industrial and innovation strategy, enabling faster manufacturing growth, higher investment, job creation and sustainable development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is an Industrial Park?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An industrial park is a planned and demarcated area developed specifically for industrial use, with common facilities like power, water, internal roads, waste management, testing labs, logistics services and security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These parks are usually managed by a dedicated authority or developer responsible for allotment of plots, maintenance of infrastructure, regulatory compliances and long\u2011term development of the industrial ecosystem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Status of Industrial Parks in India<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The IILB, a GIS\u2011enabled platform developed by DPIIT, has mapped around <strong>4,500+ industrial parks across India<\/strong>, covering several lakh hectares, with substantial land still vacant for new investments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under<strong> Industrial Park Rating System (IPRS) 3.0<\/strong>, parks are classified as<strong> \u201cLeaders\u201d, \u201cChallengers\u201d and \u201cAspirers\u201d <\/strong>based on infrastructure quality, connectivity, services and industrial activity, giving a national snapshot of park performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Significance of Industrial Parks<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They reduce entry barriers and transaction costs by providing <strong>ready\u2011to\u2011use land, common infrastructure and streamlined clearances,<\/strong> thereby improving <strong>ease of doing business and attracting both domestic and foreign investors<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Parks create clusters that promote <strong>economies of scale, supply\u2011chain integration, innovation spillovers and MSME participation<\/strong>, strengthening India\u2019s manufacturing base and export potential.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With growing emphasis on green infrastructure and resource efficiency, industrial parks are also becoming instruments for environmentally responsible industrialisation and inclusive, job\u2011rich growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"c3caca\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"559\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2025\/12\/image-129.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-62520\" style=\"--dominant-color: #c3caca;
