A shift toward <strong>value-added, two-way manufacturing<\/strong> and <strong>cross-border joint ventures<\/strong> is vital.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Establishing manufacturing bases in Africa allows Indian firms to benefit from <strong>US preferential tariffs<\/strong> via African supply chains, and tap into <strong>Africa\u2019s growing consumer base<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strengthening engagement with the <strong>African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)<\/strong> can unlock vast new opportunities for Indian exporters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Empowering MSMEs and Expanding Trade Finance: <\/strong>The African market offers fertile ground for <strong>India\u2019s MSMEs<\/strong>, a segment often constrained in Western markets. Scaling up <strong>Lines of Credit<\/strong> and ensuring <strong>accessible trade finance<\/strong> are crucial.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Further measures include promoting <strong>local currency trade<\/strong>, and establishing a <strong>joint insurance pool<\/strong> to mitigate political and commercial risks for small and medium enterprises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reducing Logistics and Connectivity Costs: <\/strong>India needs to invest in <strong>port modernization<\/strong>, <strong>hinterland connectivity<\/strong>, and the development of <strong>India\u2013Africa maritime corridors<\/strong> to reduce freight costs and facilitate smoother trade flows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scaling Services and Digital Partnerships: <\/strong>India should leverage its global strengths in <strong>Information Technology, healthcare, education, and skill development<\/strong> to enhance <strong>services trade<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Digital cooperation and people-to-people ties can serve as force multipliers for economic and cultural integration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Securing Supply Chains and Maritime Corridors: <\/strong>Piracy, terrorism, and illegal resource exploitation in the <strong>Indian Ocean Region (IOR)<\/strong> threaten&nbsp; maritime routes.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recent disruptions, such as <strong>Houthi attacks in the Red Sea<\/strong>, caused a <strong>90% drop in container traffic<\/strong> and significant global freight inflation, impacting Indian exporters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, India has expanded its maritime cooperation through the <strong>SAGAR<\/strong><strong>vision<\/strong> into <strong><em>Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions<\/em><\/strong><strong> (MAHASAGAR) <\/strong>to counter these risks.
