Ambedkar on Mahaparinirvan Diwas<\/strong> at the Parliament complex in New Delhi.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Mahaparinirvan Diwas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is observed annually on December 6 to commemorate the <strong>death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar<\/strong>, fondly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Indian Constitution.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr. Ambedkar, a revered leader, thinker, and reformer, dedicated his life to championing equality and eradicating caste-based discrimination.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Significance of Mahaparinirvan Diwas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mahaparinirvan Diwas is a day of deep reverence that honors his transformative legacy and close ideological connection with Lord Buddha.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Buddhist tradition, Mahaparinirvan signifies liberation from the cycle of birth, death, and karma, making it the most sacred day in the calendar.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ambedkar, regarded as a Buddhist guru for his role in eradicating untouchability and promoting social justice, is remembered by his followers as equally influential as Buddha.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The day goes beyond mourning, serving as a moment of reflection and inspiration to uphold Ambedkar\u2019s vision of equality, justice, and an inclusive society.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dr. B.R. Ambedkar\u2019s Advocacy for Social Justice<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, born on April 14, 1891, in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, dedicated his life to uplifting marginalized communities, especially Dalits, women, and labourers, who faced systemic social discrimination.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He recognized that caste oppression was fracturing the nation and sought transformative measures to address these deep-rooted injustices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He proposed revolutionary steps to empower the oppressed, including reservations in education, employment, and politics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Major Contributions&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>He launched the newspaper <strong>Mooknayaka (Leader of the Silent)<\/strong> to amplify the voices of the downtrodden.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He established the <strong>Bahishkrit Hitkarini Sabha (Outcastes Welfare Association)<\/strong> in <strong>1923 <\/strong>to spread education, improve economic conditions, and address societal inequalities.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>His leadership in historic movements such as the <strong>Mahad March (1927)<\/strong> for access to public water and the temple entry movement at <strong>Kalaram Temple (1930) <\/strong>challenged caste hierarchies and priestly dominance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dr. B R Ambedkar\u2019s pivotal role in the <strong>Poona Pact of 1932<\/strong>, which replaced separate electorates with reserved seats for Dalits, marked a turning point in India\u2019s fight for social justice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>His ideas were instrumental in framing the guidelines for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Act, 1934, and influencing the creation of the RBI itself.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He championed systemic advancements such as the foundation of Employment Exchanges, the establishment of the <strong>National Power Grid System,<\/strong> and pivotal projects like the <strong>Damodar Valley Project, Hirakud Dam Project<\/strong>, and <strong>Sone River Project,<\/strong> showcasing his foresight in infrastructure and resource management.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As <strong>Chairman of the Constitution Drafting Committee,<\/strong> Ambedkar played a pivotal role in crafting the Indian Constitution, presenting a draft in 1948 that was adopted in 1949 with minimal changes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>His emphasis on equality and justice ensured provisions that protected the rights of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes, laying the groundwork for an inclusive democracy.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsonair.gov.in\/president-vp-pm-and-other-dignitaries-pay-floral-tributes-to-dr-br-ambedkar-on-mahaparinirvan-diwas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Air<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In News<\/strong><\/p>\n<li class=\"ms-5\">President Droupadi Murmu and\u00a0 Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u00a0 paid floral tributes to Dr. B.R.
