Defence (SED) have signed a<strong> joint venture agreement to manufacture the HAMMER <\/strong>precision-guided air-to-ground weapon system in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The accord follows a memorandum of understanding signed during <strong>Aero India in 2025.\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under the plan, a <strong>joint venture company with 50:50 shareholding <\/strong>will be incorporated in India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The joint venture <\/strong>will take up localisation of manufacturing, supply and maintenance of the HAMMER weapon system for the Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Indigenisation is expected to gradually rise to nearly 60%, including sub-assemblies, electronics and mechanical parts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The HAMMER (Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range),<\/strong> is highly agile, and fit for operations in mountainous terrain like Ladakh.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Also known as a glide bomb, HAMMER precision-guided munitions have a range of up to 70 km and can be fitted to standard bombs of 250kg, 500kg, 1,000kg weights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is compatible with multiple combat aircraft, including the Rafale and the Light Combat Aircraft Tejas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With a range of up to 70 km, it enables stand-off attacks from outside hostile air defence coverage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Major Highlights of the India-France Relations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>India\u2013France Strategic Partnership: <\/strong>It was launched on 26 January 1998 and is India\u2019s first-ever Strategic Partnership.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Core vision:<\/strong> Enhance strategic autonomy and deepen bilateral cooperation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Key Strategic Pillars: <\/strong>Defence and security, Civil nuclear cooperation and Space collaboration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expanding areas: <\/strong>Indo-Pacific cooperation, maritime security, digitalisation, cyber security, climate change, sustainable development, advanced technologies, and, counter-terrorism.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Defence Cooperation:<\/strong> It is<strong> <\/strong>reviewed via the Annual Defence Dialogue (Minister-level) and High Committee on Defence Cooperation (HCDC) (Secretary-level).\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Rafale Fighter Jets:<\/strong> India procured Rafales from Dassault Aviation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scorpene Submarines (Project P-75): <\/strong>Collaboration with France\u2019s Naval Group, 6 submarines built in India;
