36 countries and almost 40% of the world\u2019s coastline, making it a vital hub for commerce and connectivity that fuel economies across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Maritime Security Challenges<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Piracy and Armed Robbery:<\/strong> The resurgence of piracy off Somalia and narcotics trafficking from Afghanistan pose persistent threats to maritime security.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recent disruptions in the <strong>Red Sea and Gulf of Aden<\/strong> frigate <em>Daqing<\/em>, embarked on <strong>anti-piracy mission<\/strong> to the <strong>Gulf of Aden<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>China\u2019s <strong>Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)<\/strong> has driven massive investment in WIO port infrastructure \u2014 from <strong>Djibouti<\/strong>, where<strong> its first overseas military base<\/strong> is located, to <strong>Gwadar<\/strong> in Pakistan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>China\u2019s deployment of <strong>research and survey vessels<\/strong> in the eastern Indian Ocean further reveals <strong>dual objectives:<\/strong> mapping seabeds for scientific purposes while potentially enhancing <strong>submarine warfare capabilities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Climate-Induced Disasters:<\/strong> Rising sea levels, coral
