Government has decided to provide <strong>25 lakh<\/strong> additional LPG connections under Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana during the current Financial Year.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>With this expansion, the total number of PMUY connections will rise to <strong>10.58 crore.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The scheme was launched by the Government of India on 1st May 2016 and is implemented by the <strong>Ministry of Petroleum &amp; Natural Gas.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The objective <\/strong>of the scheme is to<strong> replace harmful cooking fuels <\/strong>such as coal and firewood with clean LPG to protect women &amp; children&#8217;s health by reducing indoor smoke pollution.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The scheme provides a completely free LPG connection, including the first refill and a stove.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The scheme also offers a targeted subsidy of <strong>\u20b9300 per 14.2 kg<\/strong> cylinder for up to <strong>12 refills<\/strong> per year (pro-rated for 5 kg connections) to all PMUY consumers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PMUY initially aimed to provide 8 crore free LPG connections to poor households, achieving this target in September<strong> class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>SPARSH is the world&#8217;s largest pension system for defence personnel.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The System for Pension Administration (Raksha) \u2013 SPARSH <\/strong>is an initiative of the Ministry of Defence aimed at providing a comprehensive digital solution for the administration of defence pensions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The system seeks to <strong>replace fragmented pension management with a centralized, <\/strong>transparent, and interactive (CPCB)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is a<strong> statutory organization<\/strong> established in September 1974 under the<strong> Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974<\/strong>, and later empowered under the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It also supports the <strong>Ministry of Environment under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CPCB\u2019s primary functions include promoting the <strong>cleanliness <\/strong>of <strong>water bodies <\/strong>and <strong>improving observed on 23rd September every year to highlight the importance of sign language in ensuring the human rights of Deaf people worldwide.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>23rd Septembe<\/strong>r marks the <strong>International Day of Sign Languages<\/strong> for promoting Deaf rights.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The UN defines sign languages as full natural languages, different from spoken ones. In India, Indian Sign Language (ISL) is used by both Deaf and hearing communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About International Day of Sign Languages<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD),<strong> adopted in 2006<\/strong>, recognizes sign languages as equal to spoken languages and requires states to promote the linguistic identity of the<strong> Deaf community.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>India ratified this Convention in 2007<\/strong>, showing its commitment to upholding Deaf people&#8217;s rights and promoting Indian Sign Language.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The day was first celebrated in <strong>2018<\/strong> as part of the <strong>International Week of the Deaf<\/strong>.
