Armenian Kingdom,<\/strong> was ruled by empires like the Ottomans, Persians, and Russians.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tsarist Russia controlled the South Caucasus during the 19th century, but its influence declined after the 1917 Russian Revolution.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict dates back nearly a century, originating during <strong>World War I when Ottoman and Azeri <\/strong>forces targeted ethnic <strong>Armenians in the South Caucasus.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nagorno-Karabakh, a predominantly Armenian region within Azerbaijan, became a key flashpoint, rooted in ethnic, religious, and geopolitical tensions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991,<strong> Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh declared independence<\/strong>, leading to a war that lasted until 1994 and caused around 30,000 deaths.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A Russia-brokered ceasefire followed, but borders remained unsettled despite international peace efforts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In <strong>2020<\/strong>, Azerbaijan\u00a0 launched a successful offensive, regaining surrounding territories with support from Turkey and Pakistan.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Another offensive in 2023 allowed <strong>Azerbaijan to claim full control.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Outcomes of recent deal\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cessation of Hostilities: <\/strong>The peace deal ends nearly 35 years of tensions and paves the way for regional stability and development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP):<\/strong> It includes reopening key transport routes and creating the \u201c<strong>Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity\u201d<\/strong> to link Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan exclave via Armenia.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>U.S. Exclusive Development Rights:<\/strong> The U.S. won\u2019t send soldiers, but it will have the exclusive right to develop and manage the route, likely with American companies involved.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>India\u2019s Strategic Interest\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Relations with Armenia : <\/strong>India has deep historical and cultural ties with Armenia, dating back millennia.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The two countries share strong modern relations, including a $250 million defence deal in 2022.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Armenia also supports India\u2019s positions on Kashmir and the UN Security Council.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Connectivity Interest: <\/strong>Strategically, the South Caucasus region, including Armenia and Azerbaijan, is key to India\u2019s connectivity goals with Russia and Europe via the<strong> International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC)<\/strong>, which India hopes to strengthen through Chabahar Port.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Source
