{"id":48038,"date":"2025-07-12T21:19:36","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T15:49:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=48038"},"modified":"2025-07-29T15:50:05","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T10:20:05","slug":"india-e-truck-incentive-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/12-07-2025\/india-e-truck-incentive-scheme","title":{"rendered":"India Officially Launched Its First-ever E\u2011truck Incentive Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Centre unveiled a scheme to provide financial incentives for purchase of <strong>electric trucks under the PM E-Drive initiative, <\/strong>where a sum of \u20b9500 crore has been set aside for 5,600 electric trucks.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Of this financial outlay, <strong>a fifth is dedicated for vehicles registered in Delhi<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This is India\u2019s <strong>first dedicated scheme for electric trucks<\/strong>, which were not included under the earlier FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) scheme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eligibility Conditions: <\/strong>Manufacturers must provide a battery warranty of 5 years or 5 lakh kilometres, whichever is earlier.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The vehicle and motor must carry a warranty of 5 years or 2.5 lakh kilometres.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To receive the incentive, scrapping of old, polluting diesel trucks is mandatory.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About PM E-DRIVE Scheme<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The scheme shall be implemented from <strong>October 1, 2024 to March 31, 2026.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>EMPS-2024 (Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme)<\/strong> is being subsumed under the PM E-DRIVE scheme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Subsidy:<\/strong> The subsidy under the scheme for electric<strong> two-wheelers <\/strong>has been fixed based on battery power at Rs 5,000 per kilowatt hour but the overall incentive will not exceed Rs 10,000 in the first year.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the second year, it will be halved by Rs 2,500 per kilowatt hour, and the overall benefit will not exceed Rs 5,000.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Three-wheelers,<\/strong> including e-rickshaws, will get a demand incentive of Rs 25,000 in the first year, which will be halved to Rs 12,500 in the second year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>For the L5 category<\/strong> (cargo three-wheelers), they will get a benefit of Rs 50,000 in the first year, and for the second year, it is Rs 25,000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>e-Vouchers:<\/strong> Ministry of Heavy Industries is introducing e-vouchers for EV buyers to avail demand incentives under the scheme.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>One vehicle per Aadhaar<\/strong> will be allowed.
