interacted with the students using a ham radio from the<strong> International Space Station (ISS)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Ham Radio<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ham Radio is&nbsp;popularly known as Amateur radio.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is a licensed radio service that relies on <strong>radio waves for establishing communication.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is largely deployed for<strong> educational and knowledge purposes, for emergency or SOS communication.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Using a dedicated frequency, a transceiver and an antenna, communication can be set up between two licensed hams by trained ham operators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The communication can be<strong> hyper-local, global, and in space.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In India, any individual above the age of 12 is permitted to operate a ham radio.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology<\/strong> issues these licences.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Uses in Space&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Amateur radio <\/strong>was first used on a space shuttle in <strong>1983 <\/strong>for communication between space and Earth.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ISS also hosts an <strong>Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) <\/strong>system, which facilitates astronaut-student interactions to inspire the younger generation.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ARISS project is supported by amateur radio organizations and space agencies from the U.S., Russia, Canada, Japan, and Europe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It&nbsp;
