(LHC)\u2014ATLAS, CMS, ALICE and LHCb.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The four collaborations studied the<strong> Higgs boson,<\/strong> considered as elementary as electrons, photons or neutrinos.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are the Breakthrough Prizes?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Breakthrough Prizes were founded by <strong>Sergey Brin, Priscilla Chan and Mark Zuckerberg, Yuri and Julia Milner, and Anne Wojcicki.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Prizes often referred to as the \u201cOscars of Science,\u201d honour pioneering achievements in<strong> Life Sciences, Fundamental Physics, and Mathematics.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aim: <\/strong>Celebrate scientists as societal heroes, inspire the youth towards science, and promote \u201cscience for the benefit of all.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>India&#8217;s Role in Global Collaboration<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Indian scientists have played a significant role in the international collaboration for the <strong>ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment)<\/strong> and the <strong>CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid)<\/strong> experiments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contribution to ALICE:<\/strong> It focuses on studying the<strong> Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP),<\/strong> a state of matter believed to have existed shortly after the Big Bang.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Contribution to CMS:<\/strong> Indian institutions have contributed to detector development, software tools, and data analysis for the CMS experiment, which was crucial in the discovery of the Higgs boson.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Large Hadron Collider (LHC)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The LHC is the <strong>world\u2019s largest and most powerful particle accelerator,<\/strong> enabling high-energy proton and heavy-ion collisions to explore the structure of matter at the smallest scales.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It&#8217;s a 27-kilometer tunnel-like ring built at CERN.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>CERN:<\/strong> The European Organization for Nuclear Research, known as CERN, was established in <strong>1954 in Geneva (France\u2013Switzerland border).<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>India\u2013CERN Partnership:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1991:<\/strong> Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) signed the first cooperation agreement with CERN.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2002:<\/strong> India awarded Observer status at CERN.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2009:<\/strong> MoU signed to expand cooperation in detector technology, computing, HR training, and joint research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>2017: <\/strong>India became an Associate Member State of CERN.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Source:
