{"id":43804,"date":"2025-05-21T19:11:20","date_gmt":"2025-05-21T13:41:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=43804"},"modified":"2025-05-21T19:11:35","modified_gmt":"2025-05-21T13:41:35","slug":"who-adopts-pandemic-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/21-05-2025\/who-adopts-pandemic-agreement","title":{"rendered":"WHO Adopts Pandemic Agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus :GS 2\/Health<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In News<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>WHO Member States approved a historic resolution calling for adoption of the <strong>WHO Pandemic Agreement,<\/strong> aimed at making the world safer from future pandemics.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>WHO Pandemic Agreement<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The agreement is the result of over three years of negotiations initiated during the COVID-19 pandemic to address global inequities and improve pandemic preparedness and response.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This includes equitable and timely access to vaccines, therapeutics and diagnostics.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It was adopted under <strong>Article 19 of the WHO Constitution<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It seeks to enhance collaboration among countries, WHO, civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders to prevent pandemics and improve response systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will open for signature and ratification after the annex is finalized.
