{"id":42305,"date":"2025-04-29T21:33:16","date_gmt":"2025-04-29T16:03:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=42305"},"modified":"2025-04-29T21:33:38","modified_gmt":"2025-04-29T16:03:38","slug":"guidelines-setting-up-bio-resource-centres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/29-04-2025\/guidelines-setting-up-bio-resource-centres","title":{"rendered":"Guidelines For Setting Up Bio-resource Centres"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/ Environment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In News<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers\u2019 Welfare has come up with the guidelines for setting up of <strong>bio-input resource centres (BRC) <\/strong>under the <strong>National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF).<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key Highlights of the Guidelines<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Financial Assistance:<\/strong> \u20b91 lakh per BRC, provided in two installments of \u20b950,000 each.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Assistance excludes costs like sheds, land rental, or permanent infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose of BRCs:<\/strong> Facilitate cluster-level production and availability of natural farming bio-inputs.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Act as knowledge hubs for disseminating practices and solutions related to natural farming.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tailor bio-inputs according to local soil, crops, and land-use patterns.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eligibility:<\/strong> BRCs must be run by entrepreneur groups already practising natural farming.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If unavailable, the state natural farming cell will identify and onboard farmers willing to transition.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Affordability Focus:<\/strong> Inputs produced and sold must remain affordable for small and marginal farmers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Integration with Other Schemes:<\/strong> Emphasis on convergence with programmes like the Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs, National Mission on Edible Oilseeds, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Significance of the BRC Guidelines under NMNF<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>BRCs will locally produce and supply ready-to-use inputs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Will promote cluster-based collective efforts, enhancing access to markets and reducing costs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BRCs will help scale up natural and organic farming by ensuring quality inputs and region-specific formulations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About National Mission on Natural Farming (NMNF)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Type:<\/strong> Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nodal Ministry:<\/strong> Ministry of Agriculture &amp;
