Raman.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sir C.V. Raman was awarded the <strong>Nobel Prize in 1930 <\/strong>for the discovery of the Raman Effect.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The first celebration<\/strong> took place on <strong>February 28, 1987<\/strong>, marking the beginning of a tradition that continues to inspire generations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The objective<\/strong> of the observation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/blog\/national-science-day\/\"><strong>National Science Day<\/strong><\/a> is to spread the message of the importance of science and its application among the people.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Theme for 2025: <\/strong>Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science &amp; Innovation for VIKSIT BHARAT.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ebecf0\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>About C V Raman<\/strong><br>&#8211; He founded the <strong>Indian Journal of Physics in 1926<\/strong>.<br>&#8211; He became the <strong>first Indian director of the <\/strong>Indian Institute of Science<strong> (IISc) in 1933.<\/strong><br>&#8211; He established the Raman Research Institute in <strong>1948.<\/strong><br>&#8211; In <strong>1954, <\/strong>the Government of India honored him with the Bharat Ratna.<br><strong>Raman Effect<\/strong><br>&#8211; When a beam of light passes through a <strong>transparent medium<\/strong> (such as a liquid or gas), a small fraction of the <strong>scattered light changes in wavelength.<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>&#8211; This change occurs due to the <strong>interaction of light with the vibrational and rotational energy levels<\/strong> of the molecules in the medium.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key advancements in Science and Technology in 2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Global Standing in Innovation and IP:<\/strong> India has secured <strong>39th rank<\/strong> in the <strong>Global Innovation Index 2024<\/strong> and <strong>6th position<\/strong> in <strong>global Intellectual Property (IP)<\/strong> filings, as per the <strong>WIPO report<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) <\/strong>is accelerating India\u2019s research and development ecosystem.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>PM Early Career Research Grant (PMECRG)<\/strong> supports young researchers, providing them with the resources to pursue independent research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>EV Mission<\/strong> aims to foster innovation in electric vehicle technology, making India self-reliant in sustainable mobility.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The National Quantum Mission (NQM),<\/strong> with a <strong>Rs. 6003.65 crore<\/strong> investment, is propelling India to the forefront of quantum technology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>National Supercomputing Mission (NSM):<\/strong> India\u2019s computational power expanded to <strong>32 PetaFlops<\/strong> in 2024 through NSM, with plans to reach <strong>77 PetaFlops <\/strong>using indigenous technology.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The BharatGen initiative<\/strong> is working on India\u2019s first multilingual <strong>Large Language Model (LLM)<\/strong> for AI.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE) program<\/strong>, aims to attract and support young talent in science and research.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bridging the Gender Gap in STEM:<\/strong> India is also making strides in gender parity with programs like <strong>WISE-KIRAN,<\/strong> which supports women in scientific research.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"beac7f\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"522\" height=\"518\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2025\/02\/ancient-india-contributions-to-global-science.png\" alt=\"ancient-india-contributions-to-global-science\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-38181\" style=\"--dominant-color: #beac7f;
