practice that originated in India. The word \u2018yoga\u2019 is derived from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:square\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\">Vedanta is one of the six schools of Hindu philosophy and is based on Upanishads and their interpretation. It aimed to enquire about \u2018Brahman\u2019 (Ultimate Reality). It sees Veda as the ultimate source of information and whose authority could not be questioned.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:circle\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\">He preached \u2018neo-Vedanta\u2019, an interpretation of Hinduism through a Western lens and believed in combining spirituality with material progress.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:square\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\">Neo-Vedanta is a modern interpretation of Vedanta, with a liberal attitude toward the Vedas. It reconciles dualism and non-dualism and rejects the &#8220;universal illusionism&#8221; of Shankara.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\"><strong>Tour and is best known for his speech at the Parliament of the World\u2019s Religions in Chicago in 1893.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:circle\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\">He started the speech with the opening remarks, \u201cMy brothers and sisters of America\u201d Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\">One of his most significant contributions is his interpretation of religion as a universal experience of transcendent Reality, common to all
