Mohan as director of Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre in Thiruvananthapuram.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About the Liquid Propulsion Systems<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Liquid propulsion systems use liquid propellants, such as <strong>liquid oxygen (LOX) and liquid hydrogen (LH2),<\/strong> to generate thrust.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These systems are <strong>preferred over solid propulsion systems<\/strong> due to their higher efficiency, controllability, and ability to be restarted multiple times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ISRO\u2019s Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is a key facility under ISRO, responsible for the design, development, and realization of liquid propulsion stages for ISRO&#8217;s launch vehicles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It has <strong>two units<\/strong> located in <strong>Thiruvananthapuram (Valiamala) and Bengaluru<\/strong>, each focusing on different aspects of liquid propulsion systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Recent Developments<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gaganyaan Mission:<\/strong> ISRO has integrated advanced liquid propulsion systems into the <strong>Crew Module<\/strong> for the first uncrewed mission of the Gaganyaan project.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Crew Module Propulsion System (CMPS)<\/strong> is a <strong>bi-propellant<\/strong> based <strong>Reaction Control System (RCS)<\/strong> designed for precise three-axis control (pitch, yaw, and roll) during the descent and re-entry phases.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Cryogenic Upper Stage:<\/strong> ISRO has developed an indigenous cryogenic upper stage <strong>for the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV)<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It has significantly enhanced India&#8217;s capabilities in launching heavier payloads into space.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Satellite Propulsion Systems:<\/strong> The LPSC is responsible for developing propulsion systems for satellites, including monopropellant thrusters and components for satellite control and maneuvering.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/news\/national\/kerala\/isro-appoints-m-mohan-as-director-of-liquid-propulsion-systems-centre-in-thiruvananthapuram\/article69145535.ece\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Source: TH<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Recently, ISRO appointed M.
