It supports various port infrastructure projects, coastal development, and connectivity enhancements.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Financial assistance is provided to State\/UT Governments for projects like coastal berths, road and rail connectivity, fish harbours, skill development, cruise terminals, and Ro-Pax ferry services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Challenges and Opportunities Ahead of India\u2019s Maritime Sector<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Infrastructure and Modernization: <\/strong>India aims to become <strong>one of the top five maritime nations by 2047<\/strong>, necessitating substantial investments in infrastructure.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The current cargo handling capacity of 1,600 million metric tonnes needs to expand to 10,000 million metric tonnes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It requires modernizing ports, enhancing cargo handling systems, and developing
