class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI)<\/strong> has released the Annual Survey of Unincorporated Sector Enterprises (ASUSE) for 2023-24 for the reference period October, 2023 \u2013 September, 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Coverage of ASUSE<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Geographical coverage:<\/strong> ASUSE covers the rural and urban areas of the whole of India (except the villages in Andaman and Nicobar Islands).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sector-wise, <\/strong>this survey captures unincorporated non-agricultural establishments belonging to three sectors viz., Manufacturing, Trade and Other Services (excluding construction).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Economic characteristics: <\/strong>Number of workers, GVA, emoluments paid, fixed asset owned, outstanding loan etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Key highlights from the ASUSE 2023-24<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Growth in Establishments:<\/strong> The total number of establishments in the sector increased substantially from 6.50 crore in 2022-23 to<strong> 7.34 crore in 2023-24, <\/strong>representing a <strong>12.84%<\/strong> growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img data-dominant-color=\"c1b8b3\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" style=\"--dominant-color: #c1b8b3;\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"434\" height=\"320\" 434px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Gross Value Added (GVA), <\/strong>a key indicator of economic performance, rose by <strong>16.52%<\/strong> driven by a 26.17% growth in other services sectors.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Gross Value Added (GVA) per worker<\/strong>, a measure of labour productivity of the sector, rose to <strong>Rs. 1,49,742 in 2023-24<\/strong> from Rs. 1,41,769 in 2022-23 in current prices showing a <strong>5.62% increase.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Productivity Metrics:<\/strong> The Gross Value of Output (GVO) per establishment increased from Rs. 4,63,389 to <strong>Rs. 4,91,862<\/strong> in current prices.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strong Labour Market Performance:<\/strong> The percentage of female-owned proprietary establishments has increased from 22.9% in 2022-23 to <strong>26.2%<\/strong> in 2023-24.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The average emolument per hired worker<\/strong> also increased by <strong>13% <\/strong>in 2023-24 compared to the previous year, signaling improvements in wage levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div 2022-23 to <strong>26.7% in 2023-24.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Concluding remarks<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The data serves as a key input for policymaking, supporting National Accounts Statistics, fulfilling the requirements of Ministries such as M\/o Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME), Textiles, Labour &amp; Employment, and empowering stakeholders to make informed, data-driven decisions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Source: <\/strong><a
