{"id":34010,"date":"2024-12-20T19:01:14","date_gmt":"2024-12-20T13:31:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=34010"},"modified":"2024-12-20T19:01:16","modified_gmt":"2024-12-20T13:31:16","slug":"viksit-bharat-by-2047","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/20-12-2024\/viksit-bharat-by-2047","title":{"rendered":"Efforts to Make \u2018Viksit Bharat\u2019 by 2047"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/Economic Development; Science &amp; Technology<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India has been making several efforts through key interventions in the field of Science and Technology towards achieving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/editorial-analysis\/18-07-2024\/indias-path-to-becoming-a-developed-country\"><strong>\u2018Viksit Bharat\u2019 2047 Goal.<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>India\u2019s Vision 2047: Viksit Bharat<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/editorial-analysis\/10-02-2024\/idea-of-viksit-bharat\"><strong>India&#8217;s vision for 2047<\/strong><\/a>, known as &#8216;Viksit Bharat&#8217; (Developed India), aims to transform the nation into a developed economy by the time it celebrates its 100th anniversary of its independence.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Achieving this ambitious goal requires comprehensive efforts across various sectors, with science and technology playing a pivotal role.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff2cc\"><tbody><tr><td><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/editorial-analysis\/10-02-2024\/idea-of-viksit-bharat\"><strong>Agenda of Viksit Bharat by 2047<\/strong><\/a><br>&#8211; It is a comprehensive vision plan aiming to transform India into a developed nation by the year 2047, marking the 100th anniversary of its independence.<br>&#8211; The <strong>four pillars of Viksit Bharat<\/strong> are <em>Yuva (Youth), Garib (Poor), Mahila (Women) and Kisan (Framers).<\/em><br>&#8211; It requires comprehensive efforts across various sectors, including <strong><em>economic growth, social equity, global competitiveness, environmental sustainability, industrial modernization and good governance.<\/em><\/strong><br><strong>Efforts Made in Key Sectors\u00a0<\/strong><br>&#8211; <strong>Economic Growth: <\/strong>India has <strong>set a target of a 7-8% annual GDP growth rate<\/strong> to achieve sustained economic growth.\u00a0<br>1. According to<strong> NITI Aayog<\/strong>, the country\u2019s GDP is <strong>projected to reach $30 trillion<\/strong> by 2047, which hinges on the assumption that <strong>India\u2019s real GDP<\/strong> will grow at an annual average rate of over <strong>9%<\/strong>.\u00a0<br>2. Initiatives like the <strong>Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat (Self-Reliant India) <\/strong>programs promote domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependency.<br>3. The <strong>Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes <\/strong>provide financial incentives to key sectors such as electronics, pharmaceuticals, and textiles.<br>&#8211; <strong>Social Equity: <\/strong>Efforts to eradicate poverty, provide universal healthcare, and ensure quality education are underway.<br>1. Programs like the<strong> Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY),<\/strong> which provides free food grains to the poor, and the <strong>National Education Policy (NEP) 2020<\/strong>, which reforms the education system, are key components of this strategy.<br>&#8211; <strong>Industrial Modernization<\/strong>: Boosting manufacturing to contribute 25% to GDP under the Make in India initiative is a key goal.<br>1. The <strong>Maritime India Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 <\/strong>aim to develop the maritime sector, including ports, shipping, and waterways.\u00a0<br>2. Efforts to modernize port operations, develop green hydrogen\/ammonia hubs, and promote cruise tourism are part of this strategy.<br>&#8211; <strong>Global Competitiveness: <\/strong>The <strong>PM Gati Shakti Master Plan<\/strong> integrates infrastructure projects across sectors to expedite development.<br>1. The <strong>Digital India<\/strong> initiative expands internet access and boosts fintech adoption, supporting e-governance and digital services.<br>&#8211; <strong>Environmental Sustainability:<\/strong> India has set a target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070 and enhance renewable energy adoption.<br>1. Initiatives like the <strong>Green India Mission<\/strong> focus on renewable energy and sustainable urban development.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Efforts Made in Science &amp; Technology<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>High-Stakes Mission-Driven Initiatives<\/strong> like <strong><em>National Quantum Mission<\/em><\/strong><em> and the <\/em><strong><em>National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems<\/em><\/strong><em>,<\/em> focussing on positioning India as a global leader in emerging technologies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Strategic Policy Measures:<\/strong> These include the <strong><em>Geospatial Policy 2022, the Space Policy 2023, and the BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment) Policy 2024.<\/em><\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These policies aim to enhance India&#8217;s technological capabilities and promote sustainable development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Global Leadership in Science and Technology:<\/strong> India <strong>ranks 3rd<\/strong> in terms of number of research publications as per<strong> Science &amp; Engineering Indicators 2024<\/strong> published by <strong>National Science Foundation (NSF), USA.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India <strong>ranks 4th <\/strong>in the <strong>number of PhD degrees<\/strong> awarded in Science and Engineering as per <strong>Science &amp;
