<strong>India&#8217;s total electricity generation capacity<\/strong> has reached <strong>452.69 GW<\/strong>.\u00a0<br>&#8211; Having the <strong>8,180 MW (megawatt) of nuclear capacity<\/strong>, the <strong>total non-fossil fuel-based power<\/strong> now accounts for<strong> almost half <\/strong>of the country&#8217;s installed electricity generation capacity.\u00a0<br>&#8211; As of 2024, <strong>renewable energy-based electricity generation capacity <\/strong>stands at <strong>201.45 GW,<\/strong> accounting for <strong>46.3 percent<\/strong> of the country&#8217;s total installed capacity.\u00a0<br><br>1. <strong>Solar power<\/strong> contributes towards <strong>90.76 GW<\/strong>, <strong>wind power<\/strong> follows closely with 47.36 GW, h<strong>ydroelectric power<\/strong> generating 46.92 GW and small hydro power adding 5.07 GW, and <strong>biopower<\/strong>, including biomass and biogas energy, adds another <strong>11.32 GW<\/strong>.\u00a0<br><br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"436\" height=\"404\" src=\"https:\/\/lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com\/docsz\/AD_4nXc_ZzZZLoOJxG7kScimg5lI3o85DeLAGNTUGgYE7NK0t7o25ZzbEH2rBXQAs3b8MJT4MEetNDqEwOz6BfbA8gObrR3dA1nmuR9t-tFzTbWwwqY_JzlPzgn2RZhcjRIgjrFjOIKv9Q?key=Plen2IVFIDcj0dMs2JRf0ApZ\" alt=\"India\u2019s Renewable Energy Capacity\"><br><br><strong>India\u2019s Targets<\/strong><br><br>&#8211; India has a vision to achieve<strong> Net Zero Emissions by 2070,<\/strong> in addition to attaining the short-term targets which include:<br>1. Increasing renewables capacity to<strong> 500 GW by 2030,<\/strong><br>2. Meeting <strong>50% of energy requirements<\/strong> from renewables,<br>3. Reducing cumulative emissions by<strong> one billion tonnes by 2030, <\/strong>and<br>4.
