Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\"><strong>Most countries only tax the domestic business income of their MNCs<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\"> but not foreign income on the assumption that foreign business profits will be taxed where they are style=\"color:#000000\"><strong><u>What is the need for a global minimum tax?<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\"><strong>Decreasing taxes<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\">: Corporate tax rates across the world have been dropping over the last few decades because of competition between governments to spur economic growth style=\"color:#000000\">: Some governments, particularly those of traditional tax havens, are likely to disagree and stall the implementation of the OECD\u2019s tax style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\"><strong>High tax jurisdictions like the EU <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\">are more likely to fully adopt the minimum tax plan as it saves them from having to compete against low tax jurisdictions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span style=\"font-family:'Book Antiqua',serif\"><span style=\"color:#000000\"><strong>The plan will also help counter rising global inequality<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><span
