As of September 2, 2024, ISA has 170 members (169 countries and the European Union).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose:<\/strong> ISA is responsible for regulating and controlling mineral-related activities in &#8220;the Area&#8221; (the international seabed) for the benefit of humankind. It ensures environmental protection from deep-seabed mining activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jurisdiction:<\/strong> The ISA oversees the international seabed area beyond national boundaries, covering the seabed, ocean floor, and subsoil, which constitutes about 50% of the world&#8217;s ocean area.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Source: PIB&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\"><strong>Chabahar Port<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS 1\/Places in News and GS 2\/IR<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In a significant move, an Indian delegation met Afghanistan&#8217;s Defence Minister, offering the use of Chabahar Port in Iran to business groups in Afghanistan.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Earlier this year, India signed a <strong>10-year contract<\/strong> with Iran to develop and operate the Chabahar Port which was built with its assistance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About Chabahar Port<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Meaning: <\/strong>Chabahar is made of Persian words<strong> Chahar<\/strong> meaning four; and <strong>bahar meaning spring.\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Location: <\/strong>On the Makran Coast of Iran&#8217;s Sistan-Baluchistan province, next to the <strong>Gulf of Oman<\/strong> and at the mouth of the <strong>Strait of Hormuz<\/strong>. India\u2019s tea production has increased by <strong>39%<\/strong> in 2022 from 2008.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Geographical Condition for Tea production<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The tea plant grows well in<strong> tropical and subtropical <\/strong>climates.
