{"id":31896,"date":"2024-11-08T17:27:09","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T11:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=31896"},"modified":"2024-11-08T17:27:11","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T11:57:11","slug":"three-phase-approach-towards-enhancing-jointness-across-the-armed-forces","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/08-11-2024\/three-phase-approach-towards-enhancing-jointness-across-the-armed-forces","title":{"rendered":"Three-phase Approach towards Enhancing Jointness Across the Armed Forces"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/ Defence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Army chief General outlined the three-phase approach towards enhancing jointness across the armed forces, at a time when the military is ready to present its Theaterisation model to the decision-makers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Background<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Theaterisation,<\/strong> which requires<strong> jointness and integration<\/strong>, is a long-awaited reform for the best use of the military\u2019s resources to fight future wars.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Theaterisation model<\/strong> being pursued involves raising;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The China-centric northern Theatre command in Lucknow,\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Pakistan-centric western Theatre command in Jaipur, and\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The maritime Theater command in Thiruvananthapuram.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Three-phase approach<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Jointness 1.0: <\/strong>It focused on integrating acquisition planning, courses, and operational joint logistic nodes, with three fully operational and four more in progress.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jointness 2.0: <\/strong>The progress was made in aligning doctrines, standard operating procedures and creating joint maintenance organizations for major platforms.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jointness 3.0:<\/strong> The army aims to expand common operational planning process, tech sharing, and resources like UAVs and ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff2cc\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>Integrated Theatre Command<\/strong><br>&#8211; It is a unified command in which the <strong>resources of all the services are unified<\/strong> under a single commander looking at a geographical theater.<br>&#8211; The commander of a joint command will have the freedom to train and equip his command as per the objective and will have logistics of all the services at his beckoning.<br>1.
