it is also the body\u2019s largest blood vessel.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">An a<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>ortic aneurysm<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"> is a weakening and bulging in a portion of the <\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>aorta<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">; \u201c<\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\"><strong>thoracic<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">\u201d refers to that section of the blood vessel that passes through the chest.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:13pt\"><span style=\"font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",serif\"><strong>Causes\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Degenerative disease that causes breakdown of the aortic wall tissue<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Genetic disorders<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Family history<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Vasculitis, or inflammation of the arteries<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Atherosclerosis, or the build-up of plaque on the walls of the artery.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">In rare cases, an infection can also trigger an aneurysm.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size:13pt\"><span style=\"font-family:\"Book Antiqua\",serif\"><strong>Symptoms<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Pain in the jaw, neck, chest, or upper back<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Wheezing, coughing, or shortness of breath (due to pressure on the trachea)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type:disc\"><span style=\"font-size:12pt\">Hoarseness (due to pressure on the vocal cords);
