{"id":31087,"date":"2024-10-19T18:16:14","date_gmt":"2024-10-19T12:46:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=31087"},"modified":"2024-10-19T18:16:15","modified_gmt":"2024-10-19T12:46:15","slug":"non-kinetic-warfare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/19-10-2024\/non-kinetic-warfare","title":{"rendered":"Non -Kinetic Warfare"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/Defence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Indian armed forces\u2019 preparedness to deal with<\/strong><strong>\u201chybrid warfare\u201d<\/strong> is one of the 17 subjects that the <strong>Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence<\/strong> has narrowed down for <strong>deliberations for the year.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hybrid warfare uses both kinetic and non-kinetic warfare methods.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The committee spoke extensively on the growing danger of <strong>\u201cnon-kinetic warfare\u201d<\/strong> citing the examples of ongoing Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Palestine conflicts, where these methods have been deployed.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It contended that the future wars will be fought using the tools and ensure that the parliamentary panel closely investigates the Army\u2019s preparedness to face these threats.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Non-Kinetic Warfare<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Non-kinetic warfare<\/strong> generally refers to action against an adversary without a direct conventional military action.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It comprises possibilities such as <\/strong>information warfare, cyber warfare, psychological operations, electromagnetic offensives and cryptographic warfare.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>With technological progress, many believe that the non-kinetic warfare can turn out to be <strong>deadlier than the traditional methods<\/strong> and conflicts may be won by non-kinetic means even before a bullet is fired.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kinetic Warfare: <\/strong>Kinetic warfare typically means military means employing a range of weapons.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>While kinetic options are to physically shoot and destroy the drones, non-kinetic options are jamming them or taking control of their operation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Preparedness for non-kinetic warfare is crucial for several reasons:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Evolving Threat Landscape:<\/strong> As technology advances, adversaries increasingly use cyber and information warfare tactics.
